Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  

  • Perform user-centered design activities for research and development projects that actively involve the users of Jeppesen systems, end users, airline pilots and/or marine captains throughout all phases of a project to ensure system or product usability.

 

  • Evaluate and make recommendations that help guide projects and product implementations/improvements to solutions that leverage Jeppesen core competencies while still addressing human factor considerations.

 

  • Evaluate and make recommendations that help ensure that projects and product implementations/improvements meet regulatory and source requirements while still addressing human factors considerations. 

 

  • Applies human factors, usability and user interface design principles to identify and diagnose complex usability problems. Provide recommendations for design improvements based on user feedback.

 

  • Develops and conducts end-user research through interviews, simulations, experiments, field studies and surveys.

 

  • Design experiments and simulations that test the usability of current and future systems and services from a human factors perspective.

 

  • Guides the analysis of complex requirements by performing task and information analysis to identify task sequences and applying the information to design future task execution.

 

  • Oversees and reviews the creation of use cases or user scenarios that capture and communicate the frequent and/or critical tasks for projects with complex requirements.

 

  • Serve as human factors focal on project teams to help develop leading edge demonstrations and technology.

 

  • Guide specialists, analysts and developers on human factors principles that should be considered on projects and changes being implemented on existing products and services.

 

  • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders and customers, including design reviews, industry presentations, participation in industry working groups, research and development proposal reviews and other support as needed.

 

  • Provides technical assistance and be liaison with corporations, regulators or engineers that may be developing, reviewing or approving systems that display Jeppesen charts or navigation data.

Education/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Human Factors
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline related to aviation and/or marine or the equivalent combination of related training, proficiency and experience.
  • Instrument Rated Pilot preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Broad understanding of Human Factors principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Experience with human performance measuring tools
  • Experience using or creating Jeppesen products and services
  • Demonstrated effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills. English language is required.
  • Multi-disciplined aviation professional with a strong background in navigational data, human factors, database design, and customer support.
  • Knowledge of aviation/marine data sources and their impact on Jeppesen systems, products and services.
  • Knowledge of how Jeppesen data is used and displayed on advanced navigation systems.
  • Proficiency in writing original technical data and documents for use in product technical specifications, industry papers, and technical bulletins
