Summary:

Analyzes aerial and satellite remote sensing images to extract vertical obstacle data for use by NGA.  Performs verification of vertical obstacle data analysis preformed by other team members. Assists in the development and maintenance or multiple databases and graphic user interfaces to be used for a statistical comparison of data gathered during research and analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  

• Analyzes aerial and satellite remote sensing images to extract vertical obstacle data for use by NGA
• Performs verification and Q.C. of vertical obstacle data analysis preformed by other team members
• Assists with statistical analysis of vertical obstacle data
• Assists in the development and maintenance of multiple databases and graphic user interfaces  used for analysis and comparison of data
• Provides technical direction, training and guidance to Assoc. Vertical Obstacle Analysts and Vertical Obstacle Analysts as required
• Performs other related duties, including special projects as required

Education/Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Geography or other related field of study. Three (3) or more years of related and equivalent experience.
• Experience in database development and maintenance
• Ability to program in HTML is a plus
• Previous work in aerial photo/satellite image interpretation.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Demonstrated knowledge of Remote Sensing and GIS techniques.  
• Demonstrated knowledge of popular remote sensing and imagery interpretation software desired.
• Demonstrated proficiency using ISO documentation and procedures.
• Strong knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS, ERDAS Imagine, or ENVI software suites is preferred.
