Summary:

To provide tier I technical support and troubleshooting of networks and networked environments. To maintain and monitor local (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), Virtual Private Networks (VPN), and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) networks.  To ensure the perpetual integrity and security of all proprietary data, client information, and intellectual property. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides tier I technical support and troubleshooting of networks and networked environments, including on-call technical support.
  • Creates and documents designs that conform to architectural and security standards, to meet customer requirements, using design templates and standard implementation packages.
  • Prepares and deploys routine implementation packages per Boeing standards. Coordinates the installation with impacted customers and provides feedback to the design process based on implementation experience.
  • Assists with preventative, proactive and reactive maintenance to meet service restoration and network availability objectives, using network analysis and monitoring tools.
  • Supports component research under instruction from more experienced personnel to provide input for more comprehensive evaluation.
  • Assists with implementation planning for tactical multi-technology insertion projects, using established project management methodologies for the purpose of controlling costs and ensuring adherence to project plan.
  • Work schedule is 10:00pm to 6:00am  Tuesday - Saturday  (3rd Shift)                                   

Education/Experience:

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with an emphasis in network communication technologies and systems preferred. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated proficiency providing technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and monitoring of local (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) networks. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency and user-level knowledge of Unix, Windows, and Mac OS operating environments. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency maintaining network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency of IP Telephony administration, VoIP, Videoconferencing, Voice Gateways and Gatekeepers.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and entry-level knowledge of Cisco. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Network Management and Enterprise Management systems. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with network protocols including TCP/IP, QoS, and the implementation of network services in desktop and host environments. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in T1/E1, DS-3, ISDN PRI, Ethernet, VPN, wireless and other networking protocols. 
  • Demonstrated effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated experience using diplomacy to negotiate, to resolve service conflicts, and to persuade others to embrace strategies proposed.
  • Certification as a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and/or Certification as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) is desired.
  • Certification as a Juniper Certified Internet Associate (JCNCIA-FWV) and/or Certification as a Juniper Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS-FWV) and/or Certification as a F5 Configuration Professional (F5CP) are desired.
