Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  

  • Analyzes and processes aeronautical navigation data changes into databases using ESRI ArcMap, Adobe Illustrator and Jeppesen proprietary tools including Electronic Source Library (ESL) and PeopleSoft.
  • Works with shapefile vectors and various aeronautical sources including FAA VFR navigation charts, Aeronautical Information Publications (AIP) and Jeppesen Aviation Database (JAD) while collaborating with a diverse group of international contacts to achieve production priorities.
  • Occasionally works in the Jeppesen Obstacles Database production environment as workload and time permits.
  • Adheres to industry data processing standards (mainly DO-200A) to guide all production activities and participates in internal/external production system audits. Resolves problems and questions concerning source documents through contact with foreign and domestic aviation authorities, as directed.
  • Attends technical meetings to observe discussion and participate where appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties, including special projects, as requested or required.
  • Overtime occasionally required.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor´s degree in an aviation-related field and/or experience using GIS in a data production environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Two (2) or more years of related and equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

The ideal candidate will be proficient in at least one of the two following areas:
1. ESRI ArcMap: comfortably navigate through standard functions, perform queries, edit/create shapefiles and attributes and geo-rectify raster images.
2. Aeronautical Experience: has used general aeronautical navigation charts and is knowledgeable working with and interpreting aeronautical information (airspace, navaids, flight routes, etc…).

  • Must have organization and multi-tasking skills and should be able to quickly and frequently shift focus on tasks. Will be comfortable communicating (verbal and written) across a diverse audience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of airport charts published by various aviation publications and regulatory organizations, including Aviation Information Publications (AIP), National Flight Data Digest (NFDD), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), U.S. domestic and comparable foreign Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and related aviation publications.
  • Ccomfortable using Windows based applications and is moderately knowledgeable with the Microsoft Office Software suite.
  • Experience using ISO and DO-200A documentation for data maintenance process and procedures is desired.
