Summary: The Sourcing Manager is recognized as a subject matter expert within the organization that applies sourcing/procurement methodology to indirect spend categories to achieve organizational objectives, best value for the enterprise and achievement of target return of investments (ROI).  Works closely with internal groups to identify sourcing requirements; conduct market research; and defines acceptable services levels.  Develops sourcing strategies; solicits/analyzes request for proposals; leads negotiations with the supplier(s), coordinates supplier integration plan with internal groups and develop solutions to complex opportunities/problems that require ingenuity and innovation.  Establishes a supplier relationship management process with continuous improvement goals/programs.  Monitors market dynamics and communicates changes that affect the organization.   Will act as an effective and positive change agent, to recommend, and as appropriate, lead the implementation of such methodologies within the organization. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:  

Develop & drive strategic sourcing strategies with the following goals:

§         Lower overall total cost of ownership

§         Deliver net cost reductions based on annual goals 

§         Analyze market trends to determine ongoing impact to sourcing strategies

§         Analyze current spend & evaluate suppliers to rationalize the portfolio

 

Lead / manage supplier selection for assigned areas of responsibility including but not limited to RFX development & management, market research, risk assessment, negotiations, completion of all required documentation.  Manage on-going supplier relationships and evaluate performance against goals.

 

Manage transactional requirements as it pertains to the procurement function including, but not limited to items, requisitions, purchase orders and other transactions as required.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in materials/supply chain management, sourcing, pprocurement, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Minimum ten (10) years’ industry best practice Sourcing, supplier management and procurement experience, with an indirect sourcing focus.  Proven proficiency with ERP systems (Oracle preferred).  Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) certification desired.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven industry best practice supplier management & procurement experience
  • Expertise in negotiation of contracts with safeguards against identified risks, with a record of cost savings as an individual contributor
  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted purchasing practices, contract negotiations, & procurement-related laws and regulations
  • Thorough understanding of the business & personal ethics associated with the supplier management function
  • Oracle / ERP experience
  • Knowledge of & ability to use business applications software
  • Experience managing RFX(s)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, & draw valid conclusions
  • Strong analytical problem solving ability
  • Demonstrated results as an effective change agent
  • Ability to project a positive and professional image on behalf of the organization
  • Skills in interpersonal relationships; ability to establish effective working relationships between contract management, suppliers, and user departments
  • Oral and written communication skills sufficient to communicate effectively with suppliers, and all levels of staff throughout the organization; must be sensitive, persuasive, and tactful of matters likely to be sensitive and confidential
  • Have knowledge and support formal processes such as process improvement and Six Sigma.  Ability to logically structure processes and procedures
  • Ability to solve problems independently
